There will be plenty of opportunities to catch up with family and friends over the next month. The holidays are a time to gather the extended family around the table. It does seem that every year the topic of health comes up. Whether it is a concern for a relative's health or a worry about your own well being.
Over the holidays you might find out about someone's new diagnosis. Perhaps you are nervous about your father managing his medication or whether he is experiencing side effects due to his many medications. Perhaps you live far away from your elderly mother and need someone to keep an eye on her and manage her medical care. Perhaps you care for someone
who is bouncing in and out of hospitals. Perhaps you live close to your parents but your responsibilities to your children and your job do not allow ample time for you to have complete oversight of your parents' healthcare. Perhaps you yourself are experiencing a variety of symptoms and are being shuffled between various specialists without someone taking ownership of your medical care. Perhaps you just want someone by your side to make sure that you are receiving the appropriate medical care and that your clinicians are fully listening to your concerns. As a health advocate, I help smooth the the "bumps" we all encounter when dealing with the modern health system.
It is usually during the holidays that families realize there are issues about a relative's care and they don't know who to turn to to help manage their health care. That's where I come in.
As a professional patient advocate, I can be the person that patients and their families turn to
to help manage their various medical situations. My client list over the years has contained a wide variety of people ranging in age from 18-95. They have retained me to be their advocate for a diverse range of reasons including the desire to have a second set of eyes on their health situations, the need to arrange for second opinions, the use of a medical detective, and the need to for me to fully oversee the entirety of their medical predicaments.
I help my clients get the answers they need. My role is to be objective when they need to make tough decisions. Most importantly, I give my clients and their families peace of mind in knowing they have a well-qualified professional by their side that they can turn to whether in sickness or in health to help guide them through the modern medical labyrinth.
As always, if things are not going as you plan with your health and you need some guidance, don't forget to reach out to me... your health advocate. A partner in your health. www.hakimhealthpartners.com
